My appearance is the main thing that affects me and is probably the main reason why i suffer from generalised social anxiety and depression. I have prom coming up in a year and celebrating it with my friends that i have recently made in sixth form. I asked my mum what should I wear? She told me to wear indian and i told her I don't think i will be comfortable wearing indian, I want to wear english clothes. She then told me that its disgusting seeing me in english clothing and she done this face where it looked like she was vomitting whilst picturing me in english clothing. Bearing in mind, I always wear english clothing to school and out. The only time I wear indian clothes is in wedding and family gatherings.
My mum has called me ugly before and would always compare me to other girls.

Asian parents don't tend to be accepting of anything like that  to something that seems normal to us like wearing English clothes, it can be like the end of the world to not dress up as you would in India etc. Oh, and comparing you to others... it's not often you hear it about appearance but I can see it being another annoying thing, just like 'my son is a lawyer/doctor/dentist' and the constant comparisons

Sorry that your mum is like that

If there are things about your appearance that you can change then go for it, maybe it will make you feel better.
