There isn't much you can do. To make it tolerable during the day, try putting a cold wet flannel on your forehead for a while...

Cold flannels - like lay them over your brow/stomach/any where that feels too hot - and cool showers, and also sucking ice cubes. It may make you unable to talk (because it numbs your mouth so much) but the sucking ice cubes also, as well as cooling me down when I have a fever, soothes the sore throat too.

Concentrate on cooling your neck wrists and ankles, because your body decides how hot you are from the temperature of blood flowing into your brain and your skin temperature, wrists and ankles have lots of veins close to the surface- like ebriety says: cold flannel job.

Run the fat artery/vein the one that sticks out under a cold tap.

Take a cool shower? Drink cold drinks? Take medicine?

Reply 6

Paracetamol can help.

That was slightly intentional :p:

Heh yeah, I was about to suggest a hammer blow to the face or something. When I'm ill with a temperature I find soaking in a very cold bath helps alot.

Run the part of your wrists under your thumb under a tap, this is where the artery is closest to the skin, it works remarkably well I've found. Don't bother with veins that stick out, doing that wont be anywhere near as effective.

Drink plenty of fluids and do the things that have already been suggested.

A fever as long as it's not too life threatening is supposed to help fight infection, in fact it's caused by your immune system, hurrah!

Ice-lollies?

How do I stop being cold?

:frown: Unlucky OP. I've got the opposite problem. I would say dont wear any socks. I find that makes my feet FREEZE.

When you have a fever your hypothalamus (body's thermostat) is affected and maintains the body at a higher temperature than normal. Take antipyretics like aspirin and paracetamol to help it "reset". The other cooling advice in here is good, basically you want to stick cold water or ice onto all the places where major arteries run close to the surface of the skin, namely your temples, neck, wrists, armpits and behind your knees. You could try drinking cool drinks but don't eat ice cream or anything like that because your thermoreceptors will interpret that to mean you are in freezing conditions and will cause your body to work harder to keep itself warm. So contrary to popular belief, that kind of thing is counterproductive. Hmm can't really think of anything else, hope that helps and that you feel better soon xx

I'd take a HOT shower.
Stay in till you acclimatise and gradually up the temperature.

When you step out, it will appier as if the ambient temperature around you suddenly got alot lower.

antipyretics and keep warm, are you taking antibiotics and what type and dose? how are your energy levels, how well are you eating and make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids 2L a day is normal so try and drink more than that to flush it out your system? what colour is your urine?

Buy one of those squirters that people use to water indoor plants and spray yourself all over....I did that last summer and worked a treat.

Paracetamol and ibropruphen (yeah i cant spell it for %%%%%%%%) will help, check the instructions on any other medication incase they contain either though, you dont want to OD
