If i'm writing an essay about a play, do I use capitals when referring to scenes. For example my sentence is: 'Throughout scenes one to five...' . (Yes I know this is probably very obvious but I'm rusty at essays after Summer :P).

    My reasoning is...

    1) Scene one's title is scene one.
    2) You should capitalize "The first, last, and important words in a title".
    3) Therefore, Scene One should be capitalized because it's the title for that scene.

If I have gone completely off the tracks, please do correct me.

capitalising the numbers might make the sentence easier to read but otherwise I don't think it matters
