I'm doing a Geography degree at QUB. Is it normal to be getting really stressed within the first few weeks. My tutor said what I was doing was right (reading lecture notes etc.). It all stems backs to an essay I am working on- it's the thought of doing bad in it.

You can speak to academic support and your tutors about this to try to quell your nerves.

but in short, no. You do not need to be this worried within the first few weeks. And you don't need to worry much about doing badly in your first couple of assignments, it's common and they're there to help you improve for future assignments. Which is why first year grades very rarely are counted towards your degree classification.
