"Donald Trump has threatened to shut down NBC and other American networks, saying that they peddle fake news. "With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License? Bad for country!" Mr Trump wrote in a tweet.

Mr Trump's tweet came in response to a story written by NBC, which said that Mr Trump had sought to increase America's nuclear arsenal tenfold after taking a look at a briefing slide that showed stead reduction of the US nuclear arsenal since the 1960s. The story cited three officials who were reportedly in the room when Mr Trump made the comments."

Who would have ever thought the U.S would have a dictator as their President. To be honest with his recent rants about banning players from taking the knee in sports to threatening and now threatening to shut down news networks that criticise him, I think he is a wannabe dictator.

I think. the most fascinating thing about him is observing his character and being a bully. he treats the rest of the world as though they work for him. Every other president would have ignored and gotten on with running the country, but hes too busy tweeting and electioneering.

      Amateur.

What he should do is create an "independent" Ministry of Truth, and use that to fine social media outlets for spreading "Fake News".

This thread is all fake from start to bottom, just the usual primary display of Trumpophobia and vacuous guff. Yeah, he will bring nuclear armageddon alright. Vote Corbyn.

If you want more fake news, on the bottom left corner of the Independent's link you'll find a piece on 'men in power still abusing women'. It's supposed to be about Weinstein but you get Trump's photo. You lefties are out of this world, you really are.

If they werent going to stand up against the tyranny of McCarthyism they arent going to stand against tyrannical government at all.

In fact they are going to go a step further and stand behind that tyrannical leader.

That sounds rather like a dictatorship. If America is really as free of a country as they claim to be, they wouldn't condone this. The Press has a right to criticise Trump (funny how he only calls media outlets 'fake news' when they are openly critical of him and his presidency). You know what's Fake News? The bloody Kardashians and Daily Mail and all that. I'd rather he stopped people publishing that rubbish

An incredibly incompetent one at that. NBC doesn't even have a 'license' that can be revoked. The FCC doesn't license networks, it licenses broadcasting stations.

Agreed, and yet, he is NOT the first...we have had a few, including the one that he shall go the way of...Richard Nixon.

Right, and don't forget the priceless genius of chump, when he claimed to have spoken to the President of The American (U.S.) Virgin Islands!

The bad thing, and I can say this is from my experiences as an American, is that most Americans consider people in the UK to be "backwards" and "behind the times" and "socialist" for the level of medical care the UK has, and for the fact the UK doesn't allow each and every person to just freely go and get firearms...but whenever you raise crime and gun statistics-wow-its like the room goes quiet-because you can't argue with the hard and fast real numbers and the glaring disparity in criminal violence with guns.

Please don't forget that 3,000,000 more Americans were against him than for him, that his opponent, Hilary Clinton, ran an incompetent campaign(that I volunteered(like many tens of thousands of others) for and witnessed first hand-the glaring disparity between the level of organization she had as opposed to both of President Obama's campaigns that I (as tens of thousands of others did as well) volunteered on,), the fact that at the end, she was pulling away from him-then they announced "oh, we might charge her with a crime"-then took it back, then there is his appeal to racism, sexism-The Russian Hacking, all of those things, and him winning by 18,000 votes in Michigan, similar ranges in Wisconsin and PA-I mean-it took all of that...so no, there are those who are against him, organizing and ready to be heard politically. Fortunately-I think his behind-referring to chump-will be in the dumpster long before 2020...
