If I drop out during first year of university and reapply will I have to pay back my maintenance loan immediately or can I wait until I am earning over £21,000?

You don't pay any loan back until you're earning over £21000, so no it just gets added to your debt.

    Hi mb0205,

If you drop out during first year your university will notify us of this. They'll tell us when your last day as a student was and how much tuition fee they will charge.

Once we've processed the information you will receive a new notification of entitlement. If you have been overpaid you would need to pay this back straight away.

Any funding you were entitled to then forms your balance and would be repaid through your salary.

    Regards,,

    Stuart
