If i gave a fake reference to a company could I get caught? I am planning to say I work for a company which exists but give a fake email, which I made. the only way I can get caught is if the company I am applying for contacts the main company rather than the email I gave them- could they do this and if I get caught what is the worst that can happen?

You would look like a knob.

Why wouldn't you just give the correct details?

Circumstances could mean its a possibility. They might not cjck and even if they did and found out then theyd be more likely to fire you rather than take it further.

    Unlikely though.

Telling the truth would be more sensible.
