There's 3 of us who live in the house and 1 of them has only been here 2 weeks. We're all in our early twenties. This person is nice to talk to and not rude or aggressive in any way but they're really annoying around the house.

They slam doors all the time (sometimes twice, I don't know how that's possible), they don't recycle (they put everything in the bin), they don't take the bins out, they don't vacuum, they leave drawers, chairs and other things out of place and they don't change the toilet roll, they leave the empty roll there. This morning they blocked the toilet and went out so I had to unblock it.

Obviously I should talk to them but I'm not sure how to approach the situation. I don't want to start any arguments or create any tension in the house. I know it's early days as it's only been 2 weeks but I don't want this to carry on. What should I do?

Well the only way they're going to know you'd like a change without being or coming across as passive-aggressive is by talking to them face-to-face; explain that they do not live there along and you all must behave in a way that is respectful of eachother and good for the house as a whole.

Set some house rules together so it doesn't look like you're just talking about him
