How hard is it to get on a graduate scheme or a well paid job with a degree from a non-Russell group university?

If you meet all other criteria, then fairly easily. A vey select number of high end jobs in some professions might be difficult (although not impossible), but the vast majority of good paying jobs and graduate schemes won't care where your degree is from.

For most graduate schemes recruiters care solely about the application itself and not the university the applicant went to.

Employers are not the least bit interested in Russel Group or any other 'Ponzy Scheme' university. It has no bearing on recruitment. Its supply and demand. Can do the job have an aptitude for it then you're in. Its that simple. Degrees have no relation to employment.

Pretty easy. I'm one of those people.

Typically most successful applicants (not all) for grad schemes with the big 4, investment banks and blue chip companies come from Russel Group unis + Bath and St Andrews. If all things are equal, then I would head to a RG uni imo.

To be honest, the grade, experience, attitude, work ethic and your personality are all the important traits for any job in this climate.
