I've just passed my AST and my local AFCO are creating a case for me to join up as an ICT tech as I do not have a science GCSE.

Having searched anywhere I can't find the specifics about the phase 2 training. I'm roughly 3 hours from No1 radio school Cosford which is where the training will take place (35 weeks).

Does anyone know if we're allowed home at any point during this period? As I have a girlfriend with lots of questions.

I’m not in that trade, but on my phase 2 training we were allowed home every weekend but 1 which was a working weekend, where we did some sort of charity work in the community.

I know a fair few people who are though, and I’m pretty sure the same applies at Cosford, although as the training is longer than mine was (only 13 weeks) you might have more than 1 working weekend, certainly if your there when personnel are required for ceremonial duties such as freedom parades or when the Air Show is on etc.

The majority of weekends you will be allowed home though providing your back on base by a certain time on Sunday evening.

I’m also sure 22 Grp bases have periods of block leave providing your there at that time, where everybody will have a week off, and if your when Christmas falls you’ll get roughly 2 weeks off then as well depending on the dates.
