Title says it all. I'm applying for 2018 entry and I'd like to know how expensive it is for accomodation in St Andrews as I'm kinda poor.
Also, how "easy" is it to get a job in St Andrews?

    Thanks

    Current prices of accommodation here:
    https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/accommo...ug/ugfees2018/

There's a bursary scheme specifically for accommodation which awards £1,500/year off of the price of any university residence (
https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/study/u...modation-home/) and the general entrant bursary which is another £1,500/year (
https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/study/u...ant-bursaries/). Those are available if your household income is less than £34,000.

There's a bunch of other scholarships and bursaries available too.

Plenty of jobs available in the pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels, cafes etc.

Student halls are very expensive (except Albany Park, the only reasonably affordable one) but student loans/grants ought to help cover that, and you can certainly look into getting bursaries as the previous commenter said. For a proper undergrad experience you should definitely spend your first year in halls!

House rent prices vary from about £300/month to upwards of £900/month per student. Many people feel that they MUST live in the centre of town, but don't fall for that trap, as rent there is extortionate! Houses that are a 10-15 minute walk from the centre tend to be about £400-500/month, or if you don't mind a longer walk/get a bike there are some places on the outskirts of town for less. Alternatively you could live a few miles away in Crail, Leuchars or Dundee for example, but you'd then need to buy a bus ticket or have a car and would miss out on a lot of the social benefits of living in town.
