I’m currently in year twelve studying physics maths chemistry and philosophy, religion and ethics. I want to apply to oxford next year to study physics and philosophy but I’m concerned about the fact I don’t do further maths, my teachers certainly think I’d be capable of studying it but I don’t want to give up philosophy, religion and ethics or chemistry because i am really enjoying them, moreover it would be near impossible for me to catch up with the further maths class as they are already half way through the AS maths spec. Would my application still be worth it? and does anyone currently study physphil and would be able to tell me about their experience with it, I really think it is the course for me as it combines my two passions but am still worried as I don’t know anyone who has taken it so the fear of unknown is really toying on me. I would be extremely grateful if anyone could offer any advice.

Give the admissions department a ring and ask them; they'll give you a straight and definite answer about whether it is needed and how highly regarded it is. I personally think that your options stand you in fine stead to study physics and philosophy. I have a friend who also wants to study it and she's taking physics, maths, English and psychology after speaking to our school career advisor who gave her information.

Thank you so much, I’m going to call them tomorrow.
