Hello, I was wondering how might one prepare for the History aptitude test (HAT) how many history time periods must one cover? Appreciated.

Doing past papers, brushing up on essay technique and perhaps getting your papers marked by your teachers is the best way to revise.
As for time periods, remember that 2/3 questions are deliberately about obscure time periods so that candidates can't use their outside knowledge because they're trying to figure out how you think and produce an argument.
For the question where you do have to use knowledge, what you've covered in school should be more than adequate.
