My friend's older sister is in her second year of uni and has been dating the same guy since Year 12. Although she is happy with him she did say she would've done a lot better in her A2's if she was single.
Do other people feel the same way about this?

I guess the time and emotions put into a relationships can act as a distraction for your studies. It depends on the relationship itself, for some people, who seem surgically attached to their boy/girlfriend, yep!

I mean being in a relationship for me has definitely been a distraction at times but I worked to the best of my ability throughout my degree and I don't think I could have done any better. He motivated me and helped me through those tough all nighter revision sessions and dissertation breakdowns.

I've always done better in exams if I've been single. There is a marked difference in my grades at times when I was in relationships and times I wasn't. I don't think it's even how much you see a person but having to talk to someone and be by your phone etc takes up your time, or maybe I've just had particularly clingy boyfriends.

Sometimes a relationship can take up a lot of time but its important to manage that time well and not get carried away. My boyfriend and I split out time into snuggling and revising, lol. It really helps to have someone there when you're feeling down or need someone to talk to, or just need some motivation. I wouldn't say being in a relationship made a difference to my exam results, although I did get AAAA in my AS year with full UMS in 6 out of my 9 exams.
