avi.001, avi.002... how do i make these into a .avi file

i downloaded a movie. It came in 7 parts that looked like this

movie name.avi.001
movie name.avi.002
movie name.avi.003
movie name.avi.004
movie name.avi.005
movie name.avi.006
movie name.avi.007

How do i put it together to make a avi file

Try Winrar first and if that wont work then use 7-Zip

winrar says archive is an unknown format or damaged and 7-zip just aint opening it

There is a program called HJ-split you can use, try searching it on google.

Yes, download and instill HJ Split and it will say join and split, click on join, and locate the movie file (only one of them will show up), and it will join it for you.

thanks alot guys. Yeh works fine now. It wasnt porn :-S It was a "Legally" downloaded film that hasnt been released yet in the Uk....hmm

HJsplit never really worked for me. Did some searching and came across this. Hope this helps :smile:

it's nice b/c it associates itself w/ the .001 file format so when I download a set of files, I just double click the .001 file and it's all done. fast and pretty too. have fun!

Hi, I have a movie in 6 parts and only the 1st part is playing. All are .avi 001, .avi 002 till .avi 006 files. The files from .avi 002 - .avi 006 are not playing in any kind of player, always a message which says "unknown format" comes. I have tried to jooin them by HJsplit , but only the 1st part worked and none are working...

does any one one have any solution.....
