Hi, I recently withdrew from university and i have been released from my accommodation contract as they found another tenant. I paid the first instalment of my accommodation fee with my first instalment of my maintenance loan from student finance. The accommodation are going to refund me the money they owe me but i was wondering would i have to repay my maintenance loan instalment back straight away or is it owed in the future like it normally is?
    Thanks.

It will depend what student finance say.

They will normally request an overpayment i.e money they paid for the period, but you would not have used.

i.e 12 weeks money and you leave after 3 weeks, then they would ask for 9 weeks worth back. the other 3 weeks goes to normal student debt.

If you intend or wish to keep the refund, then see what they say. You now already know you have a refund so technically they would want the overpayment part back. If youd asked before he refund then they would likely have just moved everything to student debt. i.e Repayment only when earning over £21k.

They have discretion for 60 days money, so its up to you to decide what you wish to do and then to negotiate with them and make an offer. Up to them how strict they wish to be. If the uni refunded your fees and you can pay it all back they may reinstate your extra funding year.
