Does anyone know how the grading of the new 2018 maths a level will be affected by basically only further maths students taking the exam. Will the grade boundaries just be a lot higher meaning it's harder to get a good grade or will they somehow take this into account?

But with people more confident in maths only taking the exams surely there will be a much higher average mark compared to if both maths and further maths students took the exams. Won't this mean the grade boundaries will then increase? Also didn't say people wouldn't get Us

Yeah I’m just saying some ppl will get bad grades to balance out. Just because they’re doing further doesn’t mean they’re amazing

It's a very good question. You don't need to worry though since Ofqual will be aware of this and behind the scenes they will ensure that 2018 maths students are not disadvantaged compared to 2019 maths students.

Here's a post from an Exams Officer about this.

Feels like it's more experimenting on us with the new course, and since theres no past papers it makes maths revision an absolute joke cause thats all you do

For pure maths, past paper questions from the old spec will be very useful and will be of similar difficulty to new spec questions. Also, exam boards will release specimen and mock papers just like they did for 9-1 GCSE.

You should ask your maths teachers but until then just work the best you can and achieve as high as you can

My exam board only has 1 example paper for pure and same for applied AS. I have no idea about the old system so what should I look for if i want to do pure revision

There will probably be more papers made throughout the year (some may only be available to teachers). Sorry I don't know enough about WJEC to give advice. I can only point you back to this post.

What’s the best exam board for resources though because WJEC don’t provide anything and no one makes any content or books online

    Pure is C1?
For the old spec, C1, C2 is Year 12 pure and C3, C4 is Year 13 pure.

But WJEC past papers for old spec are probably more useful.
