I went down to the shop at the end of my road and begged them for some cardboard boxes...luckily they were quite happy to get rid of a few! I am moving to uni on the 18th but have got a hectic week ahead with seeing friends/going out etc so need to start packing soon! My mum and dad keep hinting that they're going to rent my room out to a lodger! haha!

    Which one?

The one on the main campus in the same building as Harrys Bar is good, not sure about the others.

The only problem with tower blocks is that each floor is an individual living space and thus it can be difficult to socialise with people from other floors. There were no "common rooms" as such (the kitchen doubled as a common room) and people just sat in the corridor or hung about in kitchens.

I have checked out my halls (at Hull) and they are really quite clever, it's like a big landing with rooms thus meaning that there is a large communal space other than the common room and people can socialise there. Also flats are clumped together in 2's or 3's without any physical barriers thus meaning that the whole block can conveine and have a group identity as opposed to just being say "D floor".

My hall has a common room, so I'm sure it will be ok. And it's not the only place I'll meet people so I don't mind

i've got a mixture of those cardboard boxes you can get at supermarkets/grocers and some neat collapsable plastic boxes from ikea which will usefully fit under my bed during term time.
