Hi, at my school, at the end of year 8 they told us that they strongly advise students in set 1 for Languages to choose Spanish or French. Also, they said that it was compulsory to take either History or Geography for higher ability students, so my options were:
-History, Spanish, ICT BTEC and Graphics
Now I'm in Year 9 and I have been doing Spanish for a month and now I really want to take Geography instead because I think it will benefit me more in the future.. I may be allowed to take both History and Geography if I explain why but I'm not sure whether I should stop doing Spanish because I know that colleges look for it and that if I don't do it then I won't get the Ebacc.
    Any advice?

Spanish is super hard. I'm currently in year 11 and failing it . If I hadn't been forced, I never would have chosen it.

if you're doing same AQA Spanish spec as me, then it depends if you're good at it really. You just got to ask yourself these questions:
    - Are you good at the subject? Are you better in humanities?
-Are the teachers/departments better than the other?
-Will you be able to take the stress of learning two humanities (as they require lot's of knowledge, from textbook definitions and keywords in geography, to huge essay and application in History)
    - Are you good at memorising and retaining (Of course all subjects require this but much more so in Spanish)
    -Are you motivated enough?

From my school experience (I chose Spanish) I am currently excelling at all other subjects, besides Spanish. Spanish is my worst subject, but mostly because i'm unmotivated to do well in it. However, my languages department is also pretty **** (or the other students have no motivation) as only a predicted 23% of students will get an A*-the lowest out of all other departments.
Both humanities on the other hand, are quite stressful. Nothing compared to A-level as my sisters say, but my friends say a lot of time is needed for both of these subjects, and they say they would've rather put more tie into their cores than humanities. But hey, just go with whatever you think you will do well in lol

Ayyyyy same. It was either Spanish, German, Latin or French, and I liked the language Pablo Escobar was speaking in Narcos... so I chose Spanish.

    Spoiler:
    Show

I am destined to fail no matter what language i took

Same, I have a speaking assessment coming up as well. Although I actually love learning it I agree it's super hard.
