Firstly work on creating the gap. Minimise expenditure and maximise income. Set a five year target of what you want to be worth and how to get there. Look at your skills. Look at where the demand is. Ask if you need to retrain or do more courses to get the gao bigger. Once you have £10k cash you can start looking at investing. What are your plans. Do you want a house or wedding in next five to ten years? If so you don’t want too much infested. Investments can go up and down and can be very volatile in the short run. In the long run they do increase but for that to be guaranteed we’re talking 10-15 years minimum. Don’t invest what you can’t afford to lose is the bottom line

I’m 16 doing a levels and don’t want a part time job so investing seems appealing

Replace the word "investing" with "an expensive form of gambling" and then ask yourself if you are still interested. For every short term investment deal, there is a winner and a loser and the broker takes his cut regardless. If you don't have much to invest and are looking for a short term win, you would be better off heading down to the arcade.
