Its quite a normal healthy thing for a boy to be involved in, its just an extension of the family unit and is a valid form of protection against people you dont know or who may want to harm you. The question is why is modern western society so dependent on strangers and on the central state? Isn't moving beyond our tribal traditional extended family groupings just an invite for all sorts of unnecessary conflicts and psychological problems. As we can see from our current environment homosexuality, gender confusion, homelessness, female careers, corpotatisation, family decline, atheism are all conditions that fill the void once you no longer have that wider community network in place

Because they are nearly always associated with crime and anti-social behaviour. Young boys in groups egg each other on to do things they wouldn't dare to do on their own. Similar to how street harassment and cat calling is almost always done by a group of men, not just a single man.

Groups, clubs and teams all do what you say and are not stigmatized, indeed, they're encouraged.

Gangs, on the other hand, are synonymous with criminal activity and are rightfully condemned.

However, bit in bold seems like your real reasoning for the thread. Guessing you're anti-government.
