Hi, I am 17 years old and have only just started my job. It was my third shift today and I was late by 20 minutes (as my alarm didn't go off). The manager and owner don't work on a Sunday but they do have CCTV. I am really anxious as I am never late for anything and on my other two shifts I was 15minutes early. I'm just concerned that they will think that I am unreliable. Will I be fired?

Surely there was someone else from management running the place? How did you manage to turn up that late without anyone noticing? Even your other colleagues?

There was another girl on shift and she obviously noticed, but she is only a junior with no management status

So who is in charge? Presumably a person with keys and authority?

That girl has keys but at the weekend there is no one with authority on site. Only the junior open and close the shop, and they are all the same level within the hierarchy.

I doubt they will fire you for being late once. If they mention it, apologise and explain it was a one-off and just make sure it doesn't happen again.
