I went from a B in my mock to an A* in the real thing ! Biggest help was to learn exactly what the paper was asking e.g. for language each question is asking or testing a certain skill. Ask your teacher.

Second thing is practice ! Get used to writing under timed conditions and get any essay you write marked by a teacher realistically. Go and discuss it in-depth - what you could have done better, any other interpretations of the tech you could have touched on.

    Good Luck

You just gotta bullsh*t in general . Make sure you outline the techniques used by the author and what he meant by using that technique as well as the effect on the reader/audience.

    this is for lit

what worked for me was a short intro explaining the question raising the point you were going to answer.
then i would explain my point in second para, include subject terminology, evidence and your own interpretation . so for macbeth blood has connotations of danger, betrayal etc subject terminology is the word class so lets say - london peom- i wandered through each chartered street- you would say the adjective 'chartered' implies the idea that the streets of london were constantly patrolled ..
hope that helps my knowledge on eng lit is a bit rusty now..

You just need to practice and practice, do a ton of practice questions.
