This year there has been quite a few disastrous hurricanes with millions of people being adversely affected (even now ophelia is attacking ireland and my thoughts are with you guys and gals).

I happened across a website which shows a few interesting tidbits where people come up with these names and it seems that they are named after meteorologists loved ones.

Also there are different names for Atlantic hurricanes and pacific hurricanes.

For 2017 atlantic season (which is the ones western news talks about), the remaining names are Philippe, Rina, Sean, Tammy, Vince and Whitney.

Also they decide upon the names every 6 years. so it is currently 2017-2022.

Here is a list of the names

I like how there was Hurricane 'Hilary' (Pacific) and Tropical Storm 'Don' (Atlantic) this year.

Of course Twitter wasted no time to make light of the names.
