    Hi guys, I'm having a hard time understanding free radical substitution equations. I'm asked to write the equation for:

    ethane ==> hexachloroethane

    However, I'm stuck at:

    C2H6 + Cl2 ==> HCL ?

    Thanks in advance. Obviously there's hexachloroethane in there but I'm not quite sure how it's formed?

    C2H6 + Cl• --> C2H5• + HCl
    C2H5• + Cl2 --> C2H5Cl + Cl•
