For my English homework we have to fill in a grid and analyse the points we make about Marley’s ghost. I can find points but I find it really hard to analyse them. I’ve only found one YouTube video too that helps me a bit I was wondering if any of you could help me? The different sections on the grid are:

    Appearance and Movement
    What he shows Scrooge
    Scrooge’s reaction
    Purpose of Marley

Appearance and Movement- Dickens writes Marley to be frightening, which only amplifies his message to Scrooge. By making Markey scary, his warning becomes scary and all the more serious.

What he shows Scrooge- Marley warns Scrooge and shows Scrooge how his actions have cost him in the afterlife. He warns Scrooge to change his ways before he ends up like himself.

Scrooge's reaction- Scrooge couldn't believe his eyes, and thought his visions were a result of stomach problem like "a bit of undigested beef". Hence portraying disbelief.

Purpose of Marley- Marley is extremely significant in the novel and this is shown with the opening sentence 'Marley was dead' he is the first character we are introduced to. His central role is to warn Scrooge.
