Basically, i've gone to Uni and I couldn't have had a worse start. Haven't gone out once since moving, flatmates completely leave me behind and sneak out at the slightest chance of going out. The social isolation is genuinely driving me mad, can't remember the last time I had a proper face to face conversation with anyone. On my course the people laugh at me for literally just speaking or answering questions and i'm just basically avoided in there. How the hell do you actually make friends in Uni when you're just left to yourself with crippling social anxiety now?

Try and make new friends. Have a look at the people who you might not really see often, the more sensible ones, if your that kind of guy. Just chat in with them in a conversation or something.

The problem is on my course everyone has broke apart into their own groups now, so any chance of me speaking to new people is cut out or they just completely disregard having a conversation with me completely so i've got no idea what to do apart from just stick out a year of not talking

Do you have any interests or hobbies outside your course? Joining a club/society is a good way to make friends You could also look into volunteering.
