My parents have a college fund for me, and are being incredibly insistent on me not applying for student finance. I have now handed in my application to ucas, and I have written that I will not be applying for it. However, I am starting to think that certain circumstances may soon come to light which may make them uninclined to continue supporting me. If things change in this way, will I be able to apply for loans later on, even though I have stated otherwise in my application? I know the deadline is 9 months after the start of the year, so will I be able to apply if I lose my parents support? How soon after applying will I receive the loan?

    Thank you so much

How soon you'll get the loan depends how busy student finance are.

    Hi Aarushi Menon,

Like Tiger Rag says, it will depend how busy we are. For instance, if you were applying for academic year 2017/18 funding now, during our peak period, it would be around 4 to 6 weeks to process.

    Regards,

    Stuart
