My government and politics teacher just writes things on the whiteboard without explaining them, and expects us to copy it down. This doesn't work for me, what should I do?

It's always tricky when this happens. The only thing I can suggest is perhaps tell your teacher that you're struggling to work with their methods and ask if they can give you a bit of an extra explanation, whether that be during the lesson or after. So you could speak out there and then and ask if they could kindly expand on that point, or go after the lesson if you'd feel more comfortable that way.

If all else fails you could try and find some online resources at home to help you understand. Sometimes we have to take matters into our own hands if things don't work out with a teacher. But I'd definitely recommend you speak out first
