Why mention it if you dont understand it and cant find it?

It is in the Firearms Act 1968. You are a grade A Law student so you should be able to id the relevant parts.

By that logic if I can’t find my keys shall I not mention it to other to help find them? No, by asking other people he hopes to expand his knowledge...

Except he's a lawyer who intends to use it as part of his personal statement as part of his motivation to study. Its basic research. Why would you do something in your PS you dont understand?

Ive told him where to find the answer, which is more than anyone else has including yourself. I also spent time verifying what the position was.
