I'm Curious. I want to take a Gap Year but I want to know other peoples opinions on them? I don't know why I just think that it might help me knowing the different ideas that people have about Gap Years. I'm also researching different ideas, so knowing the different opinions will help with that too, thanks

When I was 18, a lot of my friends went straight to university. There was one girl who took a gap year - she did some work in a care home before doing a degree in Psychology with Open University.

A family friend also took a gap year. She did some volunteering (care home, charity shop, hospitals) and working to save money for travelling and university. The year after, she started medicine at university.

In my opinion, gap years can be a good thing if you are not 100% of university. You can take time out to discover your interests and gain work experience that can benefit your later applications. Use your gap year well!
