Y11 student, my parents don't trust me with a fancy iPhone like literally everyone in my year. I love and appreciate my parents so much but sometimes it gets me down because everyone always asks why I don't have a phone? Should I be ashamed?
Nahhh you should be proud to be a bit different - pretend you just don't want to go round attached to a piece of technology all the time I would like to give up my phone to be honest but I can't live without music and how can I tell my friend I'm in the library when she's the other end of college xD

You must have done something for them not to trust you with any phone, you can get a cheap Android smartphone for £40-50 which would 95% if things iPhones do.

the thing is it doesn't matter if you don't have a phone coz like I'm in Year 11 to and even tho i have a phone sometimes it stops my focus when I'm supposed to be revising so tbh its kinda a good thing in some sense that you don't have a phone so you can focus on your studies more. It's a myna ting you shouldn't be ashamed

I didn't have a phone during high school either-never needed one-that's the reason I gave whenever it came up in conversation.
if you get ashamed of not having a phone at 16yrs old I don't know what to tell you, you just gotta hold ur head up

Why don't you try and earn the money to get one? I once ate potatoes for a whole month (don't recommend) to save earned money so that I can afford a £500 airfare to go see my bf. I don't recommend doing it as it's just crap for your health - but you could certainly find a job to try and buy a second hand iPhone 5/6. Also ask your folks for a deal - if you earn half the money, they match it?

I didn’t have a phone until college it was a kind of reward for getting into college because it was touch and go for a little while I was at school

Mate ur not the only one..high five- cos i got degraded FROM an iphone to a nokia brick ...partly becuase of exams and other stuff but it kinda isn't that bad..i mean i havent touched my iphone in over 5 months...i've learnt to make use of socialising face to face and i realise how much people really mean to me when i havent been able to contact them etc.... i get that u may feel ashamed or left out cos nearly eeryone out there has a phone especially iphones but try and prove that you can do it...or simply start a part-time job, buy it yourself and show that you are responsible enough to handle it becuase you've bought it with UR money....anyways good luck...

First of all, congratulations. It's very liberating to not have a phone. Don't be ashamed of it. You've plenty of time now to sharpen your skills/interests. Tell them you don't like the 'waves' lol or tell them iphone isn't matching up to your level
