I love a certain type of movie, but I can't think of a label to describe my favourite genre. I like realistic, soulful and profound movies about self-discovery or friendship. Sometimes these movies are romantic comedies.
Some of my favourites thus far include the Perks of Being a Wallflower, Paper Towns, Leap Year, the Book Thief, Interstellar, Hidden Figures, the Danish Girl, the Imitation Game...
I like movies with uplifting music and equal amounts of sadness and hope.

P.S. I get that this is a weird, seemingly irrelevant question, but I really want to know the answer :3

This thread should be in the Films forum. I'll just tag AngryJellyfish to get this moved over there

Thats not really a genre, just more a set of common themes that films can share between genres. Self discovery or hope can be themes of anything from rom-com to horror.
