    Hi everyone,

I'm sure there are a million of these threads but often I find typing to be relieving when you're feeling anxious. I'm an undergraduate in my first year and I'm concerned about making proper friends, I wouldn't say I'm an awful person. I'm outgoing and easy to get along with, finding that the best way I make friends is through humour. However since going to University I haven't found anyone who is willing to go the extra mile like I am, I often speak to people and introduce myself, then exchange details but it seems that inevitably it doesn't go much farther than that. Furthermore I have joined a society which I do enjoy but I haven't got to know these people well enough at this point in order to become proper friends.

I'd say I'm doing all the right things, am I expecting too much at this point from people?

It just worries me when I see people who have proper friendships and it feels as if I'm almost left with nothing.

    Thanks.

You will make real friends with time.
My first year wias rubbish. I just made a load of aquantainces but by the end of second year I had quite a few good friends. Just keep making an effort.
