I'm applying for 2018 entry to uni and I'm currently on my gap year. I have the entry requirements for Bsc Chemistry but don't know whether I should apply for the MChem course for which I am one grade out. I want to do a masters and possibly a PhD afterwards.

If I apply for the MChem course and they decide not to let me in will they offer me a place on the Bsc, because on other university websites it says so but not on the newc uni one, because I might as well apply for MChem just to see if I get an offer if they'll refer me to the Bsc course, but if not I'll have wasted an option on my UCAS.

It is quite common to be offered the lower course, however if you aren't resitting anything since you don't meet the requirements I d stick with applying to the bsc and see if switching to mchem after 1st or 2nd year is an option

You could always transfer whilst doing BSc Chemistry. If you're getting good grades, then you can switch to the MSci.
