On Sunday I was 22 minutes late for work, as my alarm didn’t go off. I felt so bad as it was only my third shift. However, no managers work on a weekend meaning there was only one other junior there. Consequently, my boss doesn’t know I was late. On Monday I got a call from her asking about how I was enjoying working there, but I was at college so it went to voicemail. Then when I called back her shift had finished. I am about to ring her now. Do I lie? Or do I tell her the truth about me being late?

Tell her the truth, because she will find out anyway.

I doubt you will fired from being late once. Not to mention it's good for you to come clean with your own words than them finding out somehow later and figure you've been hiding it from them the whole time. Go ahead and tell them and show them some loyalty. Let them know that despite your mistake you actually are humble and honest. If nonetheless they fire you which is unlikely you'll find something else after

I completely agree with @claudiorafael; honesty is always the best policy. Also your manager may give you the opportunity to make up your lateness - probably work a few extra hours?

A few companies I've worked out gave this opportunity, so long as you are not always late because when your manager may give concerns.

Thank you claudiorafael and Boreism. I took your advice and told my manager and she was ever so thankful for my honesty. Furthermore, she wasn’t majorly fussed she was just happy that I told the truth and assured her that it wouldn’t happen again.
