HI there, I have applied for a student loan and I have sent you my bank details and now you are asking for my national insurance number. I do not have one though. I am an EU student. I called national insurance today and they said they don't issue national insurance numbers for student loans. I have applied for a postgraduate loan. You have blocked the payment. What shall I do?

If you applied for Postgraduate Loan (PGL) as an EU student then you do not need to provide a National Insurance Number. It will still show up on your online account asking for one but you can disregard this as it is not required and we can approve your application and make payments to you without this.
Your payment would usually be blocked if we didn't have any valid bank details for you for a UK bank account. If you have just sent us your bank details then you would need to allow time for these to be updated. Once we update your bank details the block would come off your payments overnight.
Since payments can be blocked for various different reasons I just want to check to see if in your case this is due to having no bank details. Could you please advise if you sent in confirmation of your bank details to us by post and how and when you sent these to us.
