Reference Books and Study Guides? (for CIE A Levels) Watch

    Hello!
I recently started my AS year and I take Physics, Chemistry and Biology (I'll do be doing Maths privately for Oct-Nov)
I needed opinions on whether or not I should purchase reference books for my subjects (in particular, the CIE endorsed Hodder Books).
My Chemistry teacher says I don't need them.
I want to know, is it practical and worth it?
Were you able to manage your time studying from two books?
Also, will it be impractical for me to follow 2 textbooks from different exam boards, say one is CIE and the other is OCR?
Moreover, I would like to earn an Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award, so I want to give A Levels my everything.
Any other study tips you would suggest?
