Hi, I am currently studying in Moscow. I was born in the UK and am a UK passport holder. My parents are also UK citizens, both paying UK taxes (my father has retired) and owns a house in the UK. Will I be eligible to enter university paying UK fees?

    Hi rwb16,

So that I can give you accurate information in relation to your query could you please confirm when you were thinking about starting your University course in the UK and advise what course you are looking to do. Could you also confirm where you have been living for the three years prior to the start date of your course.

    Thanks

Hi, I would have been living and studying in Moscow for the 3 years. I wish to study computer science. My start date will be dependent on whether I can enjoy domestic fees or not.

    Hi rwb16,

I can only advise you in relation to your eligibility for student finance I can't advise you whether or not you would be charged domestic fees or not as this is a decision made by the University you are applying to.

If you were classed as a domestic student by the University and wanted student finance, to be eligible you would need to have been ordinarily resident in the UK for three years prior to the first day of the first academic year of the course and be ordinarily resident in the UK on the first day of the first academic year of your course.

As a UK national, if you had been living in the EU/EEA for the three years prior to the first day of the first academic year of your course you would have been eligible based on your Right to Roam but since you have been living in Moscow you don't meet the criteria for this and would not be eligible for any funding from student finance.

    Thanks

    Laura
