Was discussing this today with a friend. assuming you had a partner and you had met someone who was a "better" version of them, would you dump them for this new person? let's go with looks and personality as the comparison

    Personally, no.
If you end up loving someone, you love them for who they are and wouldn’t want to try for a better version of them.

This sounds a bit sad, but there will probably always be someone you know who has "better" looks and a "better" personality than your boyfriend/girlfriend and even you (you might not think there is but chances are there is). I think what matters is the experiences you've had together and your feelings for each other, which is what stops most people from jumping on the next good looking person with a good personality that they meet.

Not really cuz when I love someone, I love all their quirks and little things which I won't get in the new person

Not necessarily though, because otherwise everyone would be fighting for the best looking person with a good personality they meet.

Nope, it’s like saying you’d love a supermodel more than your girlfriend, sure there going to be better looking, that doesn’t mean they’ll still like you or have the same interests etc.

No. Relationships aren't just about what's better but being happy in the relationship. You build up a relationship on love and trust for months or even years, it would be madness to throw that away to someone else which might not even work out. If you truly love them, you wouldn't leave them.

My bad, when the question asked if you would dump your current partner for them I assumed they liked you back.

Well if I wanted to complicate things :curious: I probably wouldn't be confident they liked me unless they told me outright. If they told me knowing I was dating someone else at the time then I probably wouldn't date them anyway...
