I have always found talking in class difficult, lately even talking in front of 5 people is painfully nerve racking. I wouldn’t call myself an introvert. I can be very outgoing when I want to be but when I’m forced to speak or to present I really panic. I get hot and go red. Like tomato red (people like to point this one out). I shake and can hardly get 4 words out of my mouth. I have spoken to my parents but they said it’s something I have to get over as talking in front of people is an important life skill which I really do understand. But I really am trying not to get so nervous, it is working but I’m working at my own pace. I have explained this to many teachers but they all seem to say “everyone gets nervous but they still have to do it” sometimes I find the teachers getting a little frustrated with me and occasionally my parents too. I want to be better at it. But my mind goes totally blank because all I’m thinking about is how much I want to get out of the situation. Did or does anyone still feel like this? And how can I overcome it?

Okay, first of all, take deep breaths and stop freaking out. As you may already know, practice makes perfect, so do it. In front of your parents, your friends, a group of people your comfortable talking with. Then you can go on to do it with people you don't know. Don't forget to practice in front of the mirror too ( that's what I do).

Also, if it becomes too much to make eye contact, look at the far wall behind the students so that it looks like you are.

Sorry, if you don't find it helpful, you can find more on the link below.
