Take a look at examples of personal statements to get an idea of the structure.

Generally, you start of with a paragraph on why you want to study the course you're applying for.

Then a couple of paragraphs describing your past experience, knowledge and abilities.

Then a paragraph describing your hobbies and how they link into the course you're applying for.

Then a final paragraph wrapping it all up.

The first and last sentence is the most important part of your personal statement.

You could start if off by saying "My passion for chemistry dates back to primary school when.... I believe this is the perfect course for my future because.... My future aspirations are..."

Avoid cliches (Like the examples above). Make it personal. Perhaps link to something you have done recently that has confirmed your decision.
