I'm currently in Year 12 in Northern Ireland (Year 11 in England) studying 10 GCSE with expected grades between B-A*. If I were to continue at the same college, I would study German, French, English and Drama at A Level for 2 years. By the end of the two years, I would also have received my DipALCM in Speech and Drama Teaching and my DipALCM in Musical Theatre Performance.

However, the other possible route I've been researching into would involve me transfering to a Performing Arts College in England, based on what I've seen it would be close to London, to study English, French, and possibly Drama at A Level for two years as well as a B Tech in Production Arts and either Acting or Musical Theatre as well. By the end of the two years, I would also attempt to have received my DipLCM in Speech and Drama Teaching and my DipLCM in Musical Theatre Performance.

I am extremely unsure of which path to choose as I would love to be closer to a theatre capital (London) and begin specific and more thorough training in the entertainment industry, but I'm unsure as to my parents reaction to me moving away from home at a younger age.

No matter which path I ultimately decideto venture down, I would eventually like to end up at University in London studying Performance in some shape or form. I'm really grateful to any advice on this topic. Thanks.

I would start by drawing up a pros and cons for either choice.

I would research what degree or course I wanted to do after A levels and what was required,. that helps guide you on the steps you need to take.

You can also network and talk to people doing the job or who have done the path you intend to choose or career you wish to pursue.

There are also three other things you need to consider

    i) Homesickness? How would you cope being so far away from home for such a long period? How good are you at making friends or coping with being on your own?

ii) Finance. London is expensive so you need to know how it will all be paid for.

iii) Employment and career. You need to assess how worthwhile it is an whether the extra effort or expense is worth the extra cost..
