How do I, become systems engineer and what qualifications and experience are needed at minimum for the roll?

Study engineering (most disciplines would be applicable, but manufacturing/mechanical/electronic/electrical/computer engineering would be the most specifically relevant). This requires A-level Maths and Physics. Chemistry or Further Maths would be highly desirable as third or fourth choices.

Then maybe do a masters/PhD? Bath has an EngD in Systems as I recall, which is more on the computer systems side. EngDs are basically PhDs with additional funding from a sponsoring company, and you spend a good deal of time working at said company in a research capacity. They're reasonably likely to hire you afterwards as they've essentially paid to train you up already anyway....

What do you mean by systems engineer? This isn't a job that is standardised across all sectors or even companies. Sometimes it can be about making sure all of the components of a system work interface and work together, whereas sometimes it can be more of a software role.
