Am I alone in feeling jealous and resentful of Olympians?

Am I alone in feeling jealous and resentful of Olympic Athletes?
1. People are very quick to moan about how footballers are overpaid for doing a job that they enjoy (and not particularly well in the case of England players). this is a fair point, however Olympic atheltes paid a healthy income and have a lot of their expenses paid for. Lets not forget usually at tax payers expense.
2. Similar to the previous point, I hate the way they are lauded by the media and given honours for doing something that pays quite well and that they enjoy.
3. I particularly hate the way these athletes go on about sacrificing leisure and family time. Excuse me, some of us have to work for a living, I dont have as much time as I would like for my family (less so for leisure).
4. The government and media (as well as professional athletes) like to go on about how obese and unhealthy most people are. Well I would love to only worry about excercise and nutrition, but as said before SOME OF US HAVE TO WORK FOR A LIVING!
5. This point has been touched upon by the media. Most of the athletes come from affluent backgrounds!
6. The UK was promised an Olympic legacy after London 2012. That never happened!

Coincidentally, I was watching an NHL game last night and said to my wife that I'd hate to have made it to the NHL. Yeah sure it would be nice to get paid millions of dollars to play hockey which I love doing anyway, but the game I was watching was the Panthers v Capitals - the Capitals had been in Detroit the night before then flown back to DC for another game. All that traveling, no home time, watching what you eat, all the working out and staying in shape, little time with the wife and kids, living out of a suitcase. No thanks. I work from 9-5, get home and the evenings and weekends are mine to do whatever I want. I like being able to shut down my work computer at 5pm and not give a **** or stress about anything. Might be just me though. :dontknow:
Yes, you are the only one.

Thought so 😭💩
1. Most Olympians are not Bolt, Mo Farah and don't have massive sponsorship deals.
2. So because they enjoy something they are not allowed to be praised? People aspire to be them.
3. These athletes go months without seeing their kids just to earn a piece of metal.
4. Having a job doesn't mean you can't eat healthily, what a pathetic excuse and it's true the UK is the most obese major European country.
5. The first 5 Olympic athletes that come to mind for me: Bolt, Mo Farah, Anthony Joshua, Jessica Ennis, Neymar. None of these people come from wealthy backgrounds.
6. This point is just stupid.

I think you're an incredibly spiteful and resentful person, that needs some fulfilment in life.

Olympic athletes are paid way less than footballers. You can still eat healthily and exercise whilst working full time. It takes just as long to wait for a pizza to be delivered as it does to cook a healthy dinner - and you can socialise at the same time by cooking together!
It's not athletes' fault that the government couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery.
You're not. It's not just that I'm not into sports. I'm also not into engineering but i recognize the importance they play in our society. As for sports, i understand they are a distraction and that's important too, and also good for heal (though in order to improve your health through sports you don't need to earn money in the process) just not important enough to warrant so much money. Like i find the fact that people who keep our streets safe and our people healthy make less than a guy who throws a ball pretty messed up. Same goes for actors, like pretending to be someone else is something lots of people do, including celebrities, it's called lying. Are people payed for being two faced? Also the fact that athletes and "artists" are worshipped by the public as if their opinions mattered more than that of a common citizen
