I'm going to be applying for acounting and finance but I'm afraid that I might not make the grade. Would you think it is possible if I ask the university to offer me a place on the foundation year for my course if I don't make the grade? I'm genuinely worried just incase I do worse than I thought on exams. Thanks.

Often, foundation years are for people with circumstances that mean they don't meet the entry requirements - and not just for people who try A Levels (or equivalent) and do badly. So you might not be suitable for admission to the foundation year.

Unis get A Level results before students do. This gives them time to go through everyone who missed their offer, and at this point they can offer some applicants the foundation year if they want to. If this happens, Track will show you've got an alternative offer.

If you don't get an amended offer of aren't taking A Levels, on results day, if you haven't met your offer, you can ask the uni to consider you for a foundation year. It might be possible, but it's possible that the foundation year will not have any places left. Other applicants will also be looking to do this, and obviously there will have been people that applied for the foundation year initially.

So most applicants who don't make the grades either take a gap year and reapply, or apply elsewhere through Clearing.
