Struggling with year abroad watch

    • Thread Starter

I am on my erasmus year in an amazing city but i am very homesick.

There are no other english people here, other than the other girl who came from my uni.

Its hard because nationalities seem to form cliques of their own and therefore if there's no one else of your nationality you dont have a clique and end up feeling isolated. I know erasmus is meant to encourage people to make friends from 'all over the world' but in practice that doesn't really happen.

I get on well with the other girl, but im sociable and crave more friends.

I also miss my friends from home so much and feel like im missing out on a lot.

I cant help feeling ive made a mistake participating in the erasmus programme

Also there are cultural differences which are very annoying and whilst this particular city is incredible it isnt really very liveable

    which country and city
Do you think parents should charge rent?
