*sigh*
I apologise for coming across bitchy, but what exactly is your motivation for changing? What frustrates me is a lot of people who try and get into a course via a "back door" approach, which means that the rest of us who applied and withstood the competition feel annoyed.

To answer your question: Yes, it is possible, someone on my course changed from Biology to Economics half way through the term. I remember that her reason amused me greatly (in the sort of sense that makes you want to hurt something afterwards) but she did it nonetheless.
The university doesn't like it, but I think it may be easier to change when you are actually here, and not before. It's up to you, but I have to warn you that this year they are giving fewer Economics offers as they gave out too many last year and 200 people turned up instead of the anticipated 130

no wonder i know so many ppl being rejected!

You wouldnt be able to change I wouldnt think till you got here. Management is really tough to get onto as well, so I don't think they'd question it too much... a fair few every year switch from econ to management anyway after 2nd year lol. The 'easier' option apparently

i know management is really tough to get into as well! but i didn't know that you can switch courses..
Reply 5
Well yeah if you go to them and say you hate your course and can give a good reason for wanting to change to another one then they don't normally have a problem with it. Unless its got too many people on the course to start off with or something I'm guessing.

when i went to the open day for law.
they said u can't change from llb to the other joint courses or vice versa..
erm. not sure.
Reply 7
Well yeah cos they don't want people thinking they can change when they get there. They're not going to tell you at the open day that its fine you can change your course if you don't like it!

Depends, chances of you changing if your a first year this year; Non! There are wayyyy more students in pretty much every department than they wanted, and ive had 2 friends ask to move, neither have been allowed.
Reply 9
lol right. good luck to everyone and hope we won't end up hating our course then!

Obviously you would need Maths A Level, but is this possible to avoid re-appplying?

Can try but as Splinter said if thgere is 40% over-subscription again it will be bloody hard!

But more fundamentally what makes you think you would prefer econ?
i.e. it is very different to management

i'm actually thinking about switching from PPE to Management or Accounting/Finance
A dude I know in Warwick, first year PPE, wants to switch to Economics... and he can't.
They said he has to apply through UCAS again...?

Aw, god.... I hadn't heard about the over-subscribing to Warwick Econ.... crap. I shall now go and cry in a corner. Please excuse me.

Yes, Warwick got 40% too many Economists this year. Hence the extreme reluctance to take extra!

But no reason think that next year will also be 40% over-subscribed.

I know that economy is a popular course and prone to over-subscribed. But how's about other courses like Accounting&Finance or Management?

I'd really appreciate if anyone can give me some info about the process of changing course (who should i talk to? if i do i within the first week of the starting semester, will it increase my chance? how long does the whole process take?)

What about the Management course? Did they let in too many people for Management as well?

As far as I know, yes. You certainly cant change onto management this year. Thing is, that alot of WBS modules are common across 4 or 5 degrees, so if the lecture hall is already at capacity (which it is for some modules) then they cant let anyone else into WBS full stop, no matter if your doing Management, A+F, Law + Business etc etc.

Best thing to do is decide what you want to do before you get there, saves a lot of hassel and time. Warwick isnt so uber good that you need to get there on any old degree, then hope that they will for some reason allow you to change to something else you either, got rejected from, or thought you were going to be rejected from and therefore didnt bother applying for. What kind of messge does that send to all those who did get rejected from that course, or those who worked their arses off (or not as the case may be) and got an offer and were accepted.
