I have a problem with my accommodation. There's a loud fan sound coming from the bathroom. I can hear it from my bed and my desk. I cannot tell whether it's coming from my flatmate's room or upstairs but it's a loud annoying *gggggrrrrrrr* sound. It seems to get louder at night. It's irritating, I can't get to sleep until 4-5am when it goes off completely. It's difficult when I have 9am starts because I can only manage ~3hours sleep, I can't function properly during the day especially when I'm in for the whole day. I feel I'm (my parents are) paying a lot of money for me to be uncomfortable.
I can't move to a different flat because my room type is sold out, I'd have to continue paying the same amount for a smaller room.
What can I do in this situation because I have had enough.
    Thanks

Try ear plugs and report it to maintenance

    Hi Nelly,

This sounds most unfortunate. I completely understand that you must be inconvenienced as a good nights sleep is bare essential when you are looking towards a whole day filled with activities. I would honestly suggest bring this up with the management. They can be a little sluggish and it might take you a few attempts before you get through. But you are paying the same money as other students and you deserve to be comfortable as well. They might not have rooms now, but let them know that you would be interested even if something does become available later. They might make you believe that there is nothing they can do about this but the you have to bring it up with them. Until then you can try these ‘white noise’ apps they might help you sleep better. Or if you want then sleeping to some light music will also help. If it doesn’t make you uncomfortable then you can also invest in good ear plugs and they would help you sleep a little better. Also a few drops of lavender oil on your pillow helps you sleep better. Hope this helps. Also, try posting on their social media sites, they tend to respond more quickly there Good luck.
