Is there any point in entering essay competitions after submitting my UCAS? Watch

Quite a niche question, but basically: I've already submitted my UCAS (which already had some essay competitions I've entered and won on them), but my teachers keep forwarding essay competitions to everyone, so I'm wondering whether to enter them or not. I'm applying to Oxford, and thus there's a lot of preparation I'm doing, so I don't think I could manage writing an essay. So is there any point in entering them, other than for the enjoyment of writing/winning? Would it show great enthusiasm etc?

Enter if you want to. Recent competitions might be a good thing to talk about in an interview though so don't view them as pointless things to enter, just enter if you want to and if it won't add any immense stress.
    Good luck with oxford btw!

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm not saying they're pointless, I'm just wondering if recent essay competition-entering is absolute gold-dust in the eyes of the interviewees and thus worth entering them in a time when I am already very very busy ! As I said to begin with, I already have some essay competitions 'in the locker', so idk. Tbh, I think I will give it a go

Definitely wouldn't go as far as saying it's gold dust, but definitely something nice to talk about that some applicants won't have - might make you stand out that little bit more.
